Letting Go

And so I’ve had a change of mind
And blossom dots my bough;
I’ve left all trace of time behind
And get on with the now.

And, though I know that in this state
There’s not a single word,
There sits upon my garden gate
A lovely little bird.

And sun and rain in equal part
Descend upon my house,
And, in my chest, there nests a heart
As neatly as a mouse –

And all because I’ve let you go
Despite the fact I loved you so.
